Eleanor’s Room Was Full of Memories

Eleanor loved Cape May. Eleanor loved Cape May so much that she requested her family leave part of her ashes in her beloved Cape May (location undisclosed).

Eleanor was an avid reader who enjoyed many styles of writing. She also thoroughly enjoyed the many years at her Cape May summer home.

Family traditions were equally important as holidays and birthdays were spent together over the years, this included the annual Christmas parade in Cape May. This parade weekend wasn’t the same with out Eleanor. Her family rented her room at the Victorian Motel one last time. Her windows decorated with family pictures from past parade weekends.

Ten years ago when I took over the management of the Victorian Motel, I was unprepared for the surprise on Friday night of parade weekend. Not sure if the Spiese family started the tradition, but they certainly raised the bar each year. Victorian Motel guests each year take it upon themselves to brighten up this end of the mall for parade weekend. Each guest in his own style, decorates the front windows of their motel room. Some more extravagant than others. All with great taste.

This year was no exception: spoiler (some pictures from previous years collection.)

Wonderful tribute, John. She sounds like a very nice woman with a strong love of Cape May and the community. May she rest in peace.
