Wonderful Winter Events Worth Watching

Desk clerks and concierge staff are constantly asked is anything going on this weekend? Throughout the offseason there are wonderful winter events to look forward too. It keeps us local from going crazy. Here is a summary of six wonderful winter events that are worth watching. Don’t forget Sunday socials every Sunday at Fins Bar and Grille.

Friday January 26th. The 14th Annual Robert Burns Supper.  All 360 Seats SOLD OUT

Celebrate the legacy of Scotland’s famed poet, Rabbie Burns at the 14th Annual EXIT ZERO BURNS SUPPER on Friday, January 26 at Cape May Convention Hall. Featuring fabulous Celtic music from the Bastard Bearded Irishmen and Nae Breeks Pipe & Drums.  Proceeds from the 14th Annual Burns Supper go to Music Connects, the educational outreach initiative of the Exit Zero Jazz Festival. This has been a favorite winter event in Cape May since its inception.

Sunday January 28th Comedy Night at Congress Hall benefiting the DeSatnick Foundation Just in: All 210 tickets SOLD OUT 

A midwinter night of laughter to break up the winter blues supporting the Desatnick Foundation at the historic Congress Hall Ballroom. All ticket proceeds will benefit local victims of Spinal Cord Injury in the Southern New Jersey region. Andrew Norelli has performed on The Late Show and Jimmy Kimmel, and will be making his Cape May debut to benefit the Desatnick Foundation. Cash Bar prior and during the event. Tickets for the event can be purchased via Congress Hall website.

February Winter Events

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2018 FROM 6 PM TO 9 PM, WCFA AND THE CENTER WILL HOST THE ANNUAL SOUP-ER BOWL

Join the staff and volunteers of WCFA and the Center for Community arts for a fun evening of good food and good music.

For $13. Per Person come sample the many homemade soupls and salads rolls and desserts while listening to WCFA DJ’s perform live.

Cash Bar provided by the folks at the Washington Inn and once again the event is at the West Cape May Fire Hall on Broadway Ave. in West Cape May.

Sunday February 18th the 8th Annual Chili Chowder cook-off at the Grand Hotel

“The 5th floor Oceanfront Penthouse Lounge & Ballroom
at the Grand Hotel in Cape May will be the hottest spot in town!”

You never know who you will run into at this event.

Come taste individual samplings of both Chili & Chowder prepared by chefs in and around the city of Cape May.
After tasting all of the offerings you judge them and pick the “WINNERS”

Browse & shop local craft vendors, take advantage of the cash bar with cocktail, wine & bee a special “Drink of the Day” created for the Chili & Chowder Cook Off.

Admission/Tasting $10 tickets available at the door
Please bring a non-pershible food item to help support food banks in and around Cape May. We aslo donate a portion of the proceeds

There’s Still More Winter Events in March

March 17th 2nd Annual Polar Bear Plunge benefiting Family Promise of Cape May county 

The second annual polar bear plunge takes place on Saturday March 17th with events kicking off at 11AM. Friday March 16th the Plunge King and Queen will be crowned at Carneys. Then Saturday morning beginning at 9 AM Carney’s will host a Kegs and Eggs complimentary Breakfast for participants. Proceeds benefit Family Promise.

March 23rd and 24th Singer Songwriter Conference

SS Cape May celebrates new music and selected acts and artists will shine with night time showcase performances at select local venues. The participating venues are: 501 Beach @ Marquis de Lafayette, Aleathea’s Restaurant at the Inn of Cape May, Cabanas Beach Bar, Carney’s & Carney’s The Other Room, Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May, Delaney’s Irish Pub & Grill, Elaine’s Dinner Theater, Fins Bar & Grille, Iron Pier Craft House, The Mad Batter Restaurant and Bar, Oyster Bay Bar & Restaurant, Congress Hall’s Brown Room, Boiler Room and Grand Ballroom and the Ugly Mug.

Although this event is billed as a conference for musicians to network and do business, it’s a bonus for weekend visitors and locals who like original music.
