The Dragons are coming.

Not since my days of rowing on the Schuylkill river have I had as much fun at one of  my favorite events in Cape May. That  would be the  Annual Dragon Boat Festival located at the Cape May Harbor. This year the event is on Saturday September 28th.

Experience the thrill, the adrenaline, the teamwork, and the sheer fun of being connected on a level comparable to nothing else. Last year’s event created such a sense of community that people talked about it for months afterwards.

The Cape May Dragon Boat Festival is a great way to have fun and to contribute money to the teams favorite charity.  The race is a 250 meter straight course racing past the Nature Center of Cape May and finishing just in front of Fisherman’s memorial.

The festival will also have an eye dotting ceremony, demonstrations, entertainment, food, and shopping and even a beer garden.

Plan to stay for a while, as Cape May is full of excellent accommodations, restaurants, shopping and attractions.

There are 44 Teams this year, made up of friends, family, co-workers, clubs, schools, bus drivers, community groups, employees of local businesses, non-profits, and people who just want to have fun. Everyone is encouraged to come out and cheer your favorite team onto the finish line. Even the wives of Coast Guard members are competing this year. Hopefully the Coast Guard Chief’s team wont cause anyone to flip over. See you there.
