The 9th annual Singer-Songwriter Cape May Conference & Showcase will be held March 18 & 19, 2016 at the historic Congress Hall and 16 stages in Cape May, New Jersey. This is one of the best festivals of the winter in Cape May. For locals and visitors, all club venues are free to enter.
Music industry professionals and over 150 original acts and artists will participate in the weekend conference and showcase. The conference features two afternoons of music business panels, workshops, mentoring and keynotes. At night, acts and artists showcase their new music with performances at select Cape May live music venues.
The keynotes and featured concert performances will be provided by Denver-born, Los Angeles based Singer-Songwriter Jill Sobule on Friday 3/18 and Philadelphia’s Ben Arnold on Saturday 3/19. They will each address the conference at 5:15pm and then perform for the public after 8:00 pm from the Grand Ballroom stage of Congress Hall. Tickets for the Ballroom concerts are $10.00 in advance and all ages and permitted to attend.
The 2016 SS Cape May showcase venues are: Aleathea’s Restaurant at The Inn of Cape May, Cabanas Beach Bar, Carney’s, Carney’s Other Room, The Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May, C-View Inn, Delaney’s Irish Pub, Elaine’s Dinner Theater, Fins Bar & Grille, Lucky Bones Backwater Grill, The Mad Batter, Marq’s Pub, Oyster Bay Restaurant & Bar, The Ugly Mug and the Brown Room, Boiler Room and Grand Ballroom of Congress Hall.
Prioritizing and planning who to see and hear is often a monumental task for both visitor to Cape May and attending musicians. Local musicians get in front of a new audience of listeners and local residents have the opportunity to hear a new crop of performers. It is what makes this weekend great. Jeff Donnelly, a regular visitor to Cape May and himself a musician, helped us to put together a lightly re-arranged order for the Singer Songwriter schedule. It is downloadable here. If you’re like me and appreciate the outstanding music, you’ll want to be everywhere at once.
