Fin’s Cape May Sunday Socials started another season Sunday, January 8th. Jeff Gernitis, the operator of Fins Bar and Grill, said he wanted to find a way to make a difference and keep the winter season exciting and busy.
The Kiwanis Club of Cape May benefited from the first Sunday Social. 50% of Brunch sales between 10:30 and 2:30 are tallied, and a check is presented to each organization at the end of the event.
“It’s my favorite time of the week on Sunday. There is a sense of community, seeing people come out to support their favorite group; I love it!” Jeff Gernitis said. “We have a very nice lineup for Fin’s Cape May Sunday Socials this year.”
January 15th – Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation
January 22nd – Soroptimist International of Cape May County
January 29th – New Jersey Audobon
February 5th – Cape May Stage
February 12th – Animal Outreach of Cape May County
February 19th – East Lynne Theater Company
February 26th – Love Blue Inc.
Fins Sunday Socials was born in January 2016. Jeff Gernitis and the Fins family wanted to find a meaningful way to give back to the community.
The following Sunday Social is January 15th and benefits the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation. Organizations do a variety of self-promotion for each event.
Organizations are vetted through Fin’s management and notified of acceptance for the Sunday Socials. Fin’s has donated approximately $200,000.00 to local nonprofits.
If you’re in town, you should stop by and enjoy some good food, hear great music and support a great local non-profit at one of Fin’s Cape May Sunday Socials.
I at first thought the Jan. 22nd event was for angry eye doctors. … Maybe not quite, but I did originally read it as “Soroptometrist.”
As always John thank you for the great reporting!
